Brigid – Inspiration for a New Society – Talk and discussion with Dolores Whelan

This 2020 talk with Dolores explored the role that Brigid, as embodiment of the Divine Feminine, can and must play in the creation of a new society. Together we explored the values and qualities that set Brigid apart, as a woman who held a deep vision of what was needed to bring about fundamental change in society and the courage to pursue that vision. We discovered how each of us can bring this inspiration into creative actions in our own lives, reflecting the uniqueness of our gifts and personal circumstances. Schools Art Competition 2020

For the 2020 festival, we asked local primary school students to create a portrait of a modern day St.Brigid. How would she look in the 21st century, what job would she do? Would she be a climate activist, a campaigner for the poor, a scientist, a creative artist, a teacher, even a politician? We received a huge number of wonderful entries and 6 amazing winning portraits were chosen. The imagination and creativity of our 5th and 6th class students really inspired us with hope for the future and for the future 'Brigids' in our world. Many thanks to An Tain Arts Centre, Dundalk and to Create Louth for their generous support of the competition.
